About Foresight Locating, LLC | Monmouth County NJ Ground Penetrating Radar & Utility Location
Foresight Locating, LLC offers state-of-the-art Ground Penetrating Radar services to New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is the latest method for non-destructive and non-invasive subsurface investigation. GPR is the tool of choice for those who need to locate and identify the presence of buried utility infrastructure, both metallic and non-metallic. GPR is an effective and safe way to locate embedded and/or buried obstructions prior to drilling, cutting, coring, trenching or digging. GPR is a very cost-effective method, offering an expeditious means of gathering subsurface data from a range of materials including concrete, soil, and asphalt.
The ground penetrating radar equipment is made up of an antenna and a processor. The antenna has a transmitter and a control unit. The transmitter sends out a radio frequency that reflects off objects under the surface of the medium you are scanning back to the control unit. The receiving antenna detects this reflected radio-wave. It is then sent to the GPR system’s control unit where it digitizes the radio-waves in real-time and displays them on a screen.
Examples of uses of GPR systems include the detection and distinction of utilities in concrete and/or the ground (subsurface investigation) or the detection and distinction of faults/fractures in buildings or rock faces (infrastructure investigation).
The main advantage of GPR service is that it’s a non-destructive method for gathering data and information on subsurface elements that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to view or access.
GPR can provide benefits at all stages of the project life cycle. At the initial stages of a project, GPR service can be used to gather information to assess project feasibility, studies, and design. Throughout the construction stages, it can be used as a risk reduction tool as well as a quality assurance tool. Knowing what is in the ground prior to excavation can avoid costly damage and repair. At or nearing project completion, GPR service can be used to verify as-builts. This is particularly useful for both the client and the contractor as an independent third party verification.
